CFA Research challenge 2018
CFA Society Jordan announced the winner of the CFA Institute Research Challenge at an event held recently at the Four Seasons Hotel in Amman. Princess Sumaya University for Technology came in first place and will represent Jordan at the EMEA Regional Competition in Dublin, Ireland in April. University of Jordan was named as the runners-up and will represent Jordan at the Arab Societies Research Challenge Final in Dubai in March.

2018 Research Challenge Launch
Amman, Jordan (November 26, 2017): CFA Society in Jordan held a launch event for the CFA Institute Research Challenge, an annual global educational competition, recently in Amman. The event was attended by students and representatives from six Jordanian universities, industry specialist, mentors, and CFA Society Jordan board members.

As part of CFA Society Jordan's efforts to offer networking opportunities and social events, members and their spouses were invited to the annual networking Iftar celebrating the holy month. The event was held on the 15th of June at the Q-Yard at the Qasr Metropole Hotel, Amman. The event was well received with more than 30 people in attendance, enjoying a beautiful evening of good food, company and music.
2017 mock exam
All registered candidates for the June 2017 CFA© exam were invited on May 19th 2017 to participate in a mock exam organized by CFA Society Jordan in cooperation with Schweser. Around 20 candidates attended the mock exam, which is as close to the actual CFA© exam in format, difficulty and length as possible, helping candidates develop their test-taking skills and demonstrate their mastery of the CFA curriculum.

CFA Society Jordan organised on April 19th 2017 an evening knowledge seminar on Fintech at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event was attended by a diverse audience of approximately 120 people with representatives from the Central Bank of Jordan, Amman Stock Exchange, leading Jordanian banks, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, CFA charterholders, and CFA exam candidates.
The evening started off with an interesting and informative presentation on local and regional Fintech opportunities by Jenny Ahlzen, Principal at Silicon Badia, a leading regional alternative asset manager. This was followed by a captivating and thought-provoking presentation by the Entrepreneur in Residence, Saalim Chowdhury, from the world’s most active Fintech investor, 500 Startups.
Jameel Anz, President of CFA Society Jordan, said at the opening of the seminar, “By seeking to promote the highest standards of ethics and to enhance the finance profession in Jordan, the CFA Society strives to bring speakers that will educate, inspire and challenge our audience.”
With such a high level of interest in Fintech in Jordan, as evident by the impressive turnout and positive feedback from the attendees, CFA Society Jordan plans to continue to invite innovative industry leaders from the global investment profession for the benefit of its society members, charterholders, exam candidates, and leading industry professionals in Jordan.

CFA Society Jordan Brand Campaign In the fourth quarter of 2016, CFA Society Jordan launched A Difference That Matters, a branding campaign designed to drive greater awareness among finance professionals, potential candidates, and university students about the importance of becoming a charterholder and the benefits of joining the CFA Society Jordan.
The Society collaborated with the J. Brothers PR agency to implement the campaign across various channels, most notably launching official social media pages for the Jordan chapter of the CFA. The campaign highlighted what distinguishes CFA charterholders in the marketplace and how three simple letters mean so much more than the words behind them. From October until January, the campaign was implemented with print advertising and press coverage, digital, and social media promotions in Jordan. The campaign, which was successfully implemented, achieved many important milestones for the Society, including building an online community of nearly 5,000 people, from university students to finance professionals in Jordan.
In addition, Jordan witnessed a significant rise in the number of CFA exam registrations, rising nearly 20% as a result of the campaign. After completing a survey of the CFA Jordan network, nearly 70% of respondents rated the campaign’s communications as ‘effective’ to ‘highly effective’.
Al Ahliyya University to Represent Jordan at the CFA Institute EMEA Research Challenge Finals in Prague:
CFA Society Jordan announced the winner of the CFA Institute Research Challenge on February 7th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Amman recently. Al Ahliyya University came in first place and will represent Jordan at the EMEA Regional Competition in Prague, Czech Republic in April. University of Jordan was announced as the runners-up and will represent Jordan at the Arab Societies Research Challenge Final in Dubai in April.
The final competition, which was held under the patronage of the Amman Stock Exchange, was attended by 200 guests comprising students and representatives from six major universities, finance executives and leaders from various organizations, in addition to the CFA Society Jordan members and CFA Program candidates. New CFA charterholders were also honored at the gala dinner, which also featured a presentation by the International Man of Memory, Chester Santos.
The Applied Science University, Hashemite University, Petra University, University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, and Al Ahliyya University participated in the challenge to develop and present an equity research report and compete with peers from top business schools around the globe. The report and presentation, with Jordan Dubai Bank as the subject company, were evaluated by an expert panel of judges and the winner, Al Ahliyya University, was recognized during the gala event. University of Jordan received the runner-up recognition.
President of the CFA Society Jordan, Jameel Anz, said during the ceremony, "The CFA Institute Research Challenge requires intense dedication from the students and a lot of hard work to reach this moment." He added, "We are proud of all the students who participated in the challenge; they have shown an exemplary understanding of financial analysis and displayed the right application of knowledge in this field. We wish the winners of the local challenge, Al Ahliyya University, success in the regional competition, and University of Jordan at the Arab competition."
The CFA Institute Research Challenge has more than 4,250 students, 3,500 industry volunteers, 925 universities, 133 CFA Member Societies, 103 Local Level Challenges across 75 countries competing on a global basis.

This event was held on the 3rd of February, 2016 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Amman, was attended by 140+ members and guests and was well received by all attendees.
